Your Apparel
You don’t need to buy a full new wardrobe to hit the tail. We’re willing to get you’ve got a lot of what you need already! You’ll want to wear movable athletic clothing and ensure you don’t have baggy pant legs that can get caught on your bike. If you dabble in other activities, you can probably find a suitable outfit in your closet. Your Bike Shorts
Mountain bike seats aren’t exactly comfortable, which is why padded shorts are a must-have. These shorts, also known as a shammy, provide extra cushioning to protect your sit bones and reduce chafing. When choosing shorts, look for ones that fit snugly and have a comfortable pad. Trust us. Suitable Shoes
Proper footwear is key for mountain biking. You'll want shoes that are comfortable, provide good traction, and have stiff soles to help you pedal efficiently. Look for shoes that have a recessed cleat and provide good support for your feet. Plus, you'll look pretty cool in some gnarly shoes. Gloves
Gloves are important for protecting your hands and improving your grip on the handlebars. You'll be amazed at how much more comfortable it is to hold onto the handlebars with gloves. Look for gloves that fit snugly, have good padding, and provide good ventilation to keep your hands cool. And, who knows, you may even end up feeling like a badass with a pair of gloves on.
Hydration Pack or Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is crucial when mountain biking. You don't want to be stranded on the trail without water. A hydration pack is a backpack that holds a water bladder and a drinking tube. This allows you to sip water while you ride without having to stop. Alternatively, you can attach a water bottle to your bike frame for easy access or wear a water bottle holder around your waist.
Helmet
The most important piece of safety gear for mountain biking is a helmet. You don't want to end up with a head injury.
